Every stressed out city worker needs a gong bath!

I was sent a very interesting article recently from a lawyer friend featured on thelawyer.com entitled “why every stressed out lawyer needs a gong bath” and they do as do other stressed out city workers. What is really needed is regular sessions though to totally benefit.

I had some recent feedback from one of my regulars who mentioned that this is what they need at work and thankfully this is just what I do although not enough of it just yet!  Can you imagine how beneficial it is to end a stressful day in the office with a gong bath, from the desk to the gong meditation space. This is totally a game changer for employees, for businesses, for staff health and well-being and of course productivity would benefit.

The beauty of the gong bath is that no experience or meditation knowledge or know how is required! All the benefits and none of the effort as the instruments do all the work! Deeply relaxing, and for some of my clients the only time they really truly feel completely relaxed, stress free and able to completely let go. Its pretty much like a system reboot for mind, body and soul.

I do believe things are changing but very slowly. One day every workplace will be taking care of their staff with regular gong baths in the office. Right now very forward thinking companies are doing just that! Slowly others are catching on and reaping the benefits ?? Are gong baths the new mindfulness?  Sharing many of the same benefits and more.

Be a forward thinking business who takes staff health, well-being and happiness seriously.  Happy and healthy staff take less time off and are more productive. This too helps to boost employee morale and makes for a pleasant office for everyone who visits or works there.

London Gong Summer News

We are back now from a Summer of sunshine and festivals.  It has been a truly amazing one and looking like a very busy year ahead.

You can catch up with me at Arts Depot in Finchley on 12th September for another blissful gong bath, possibly the last gong bath in Finchley as I have a lovely new venue, slightly more central for October between Archway and Finsbury Park with great transport links and a car park!

Some interesting collaborations have included a corporate gong bath for 100 people with Ali where we had no less than 6 mostly large gongs! and festival gonging with Angie at Sun and Moon.

Just a few photos from our time at Sun and Moon Festival.  Although it was the first time we (Angie and I ) had facilitated a public gong bath together we worked together as if we had been doing so for many years and received incredible feedback.  We filled the room to maximum capacity even having to sadly turn some people away. We are planning to do it again! Take a look at the incredible feedback we received, even inspiring another sound healer to bring gong in to her work.

Gong Meditation – A new experience for the elderly

It has been a massively interesting week of Gonging and also a brand new experience for me.

I had an opportunity to introduce gong at a sheltered housing complex for elderly and disabled people. The group were between the ages of 80 and 91.

There is no doubt that there is something extra special about witnessing new people experience gong for the first time. It was awesome to see an elderly man, an MS sufferer who had never ever meditated or been in to anything remotely spiritual before but this guy, he just got it ! He said that he struggled to settle in for the first 5 minutes or so and then when he LET GO (his exact words) that was it for him. He could not believe that he drifted off to a space he had never been to before. I mean this man just loved it , he got it big time. Just goes to show that when we Let Go, magic happens.

Later in the week  I was part of a surprise 40th birthday gift of a gong bath. How lucky am I, I just love surprises and to be part of the surprise was awesome. Loved it and I now have a repeat booking for their friends.

I feel so truly blessed to do what I do and what I love.

Musical instruments and the sound bath

My collection of gongs and other wonderful instruments is growing all the time. I keep discovering new and wonderful instruments that I would like to add to the beautiful sound layers within the sound bath. I love how creative I can be. There really are no rules, it is wonderful to play and experiment and provides such a freedom.

Next week I am attending a workshop on making a stringed instrument from scrap materials. So very excited about this. It will be so cool to make my own instrument. It will be a 3 stringed instrument and I will add a photo and perhaps a soundclip to my blog later assuming I am proud of my work! I am hoping that I can eventually make my own drone type instrument with what I learn. Perhaps I am being over ambitious but we shall see. I do love a challenge.

Loving the sounds of the Tanpura (or tambura, tanpuri). It is a long-necked plucked string instrument found in various forms in Indian music. It does not play melody but rather supports and sustains the melody of another instrument or singer by providing a continuous harmonic bourdon or drone. It can have 4 or 5 stings, occasionally 6 and is wonderful for meditation and very like the gong can easily take you to a deep metitational state. Tanpura are various sizes, often known as male or female, the female being the smaller of the two. They compliment one another perfectly and provide a great addition to the sound bath.
